ESPN Preseason Top 25
Jun 25th, 2008 | By Jeff White | Category: FootballThe latest preseason poll was released today and as if expectations weren’t high enough, the bar has been raised even further. Three ACC teams are among the top 25 and only one cracks the top 10.
Clemson lands at #6 with only Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC (the real one) and Florida coming in ahead of the Tigers.
6. Clemson - Tigers coach Tommy Bowden can begin feeling the pressure from his new $1.83 million contract. Clemson will try to win its first ACC title under Bowden without starting middle linebacker Cortney Vincent, who was dismissed from the team in May. Vincent started 12 of 13 games and had 68 tackles and seven tackles for loss. The Tigers will now be without their top four linebackers from last season.
Virginia Tech is the next ACC team all the way down at #20, while Wake Forest is just two spots behing at #22. Florida State and Miami are nowhere in sight
Even after a 3-9 season in 2007 Notre Dame manges to land at #25. Is anyone really surprised? Maybe the real surprise is that they’re not in the top 10.
