I noticed they have him listed as DE, but I also saw where someone commented that he would be more of an interior lineman. Anybody know anymore about this? And yes, our d-line is getting deeper.

Jealous much?

What are you emphasizing here? That the lead administrator DVM was working on the site? Or that I had the honor of reporting it? Dont be a hator!

Mackey, Thompson, Goodman, Bowers, K. Brown

All poised to gobble up some chicken next year!

Don't forget Sapp. He loves chicken.

Man I cant believe I rushed threw and forgot them. Not enough chicken for their appetites. Dline is taking a whole new shape as far a depth is concerned. LB will be doing the same!

Guys, I'm kinda down on the DL personally. These guys SHOULD be great, but they can't seem to get to the QB. We've got to do better next year.

I do agree, we were so close so many times in the bowl game, I wanted to cry. It's like they are always 1/2 step away. Hopefully their speed and agility will improve and we'll start seeing more sacks instead of "pressures."

Hopeful... I understand what you are saying and i feel that way too about them "almost making" the play on the QB this year. But after pondering about it...i think it will become a big plus for us really soon. Merling left early...that hurt the line but Bowers came in pushing for the spot immediately and benefited from Keven Alexander not giving it up easliy. Rashaad Jackson was hurt all year and you just can replace the value of a 3 time All-American. But we tried and 1 game in...Jamie Crumbie get's hurt...so we're forced to play freshmen. Sapp got hurt early in the season but kept fighting thru it until his injury and blah blah blah blah.

This is how i feel about it....Sapp will be back, Bowers should be stronger and will have a season of knowledge to build on, Kevin Alexander will be back pushing for a starting spot, Kourtnei Brown will continue to improve, Jenkins showed his potential and will be better. Overall it's gonna be interesting to see how they gel...b/c IMO this will be the rock of the team over the next few seasons.

I agree with what's been said, but do you remember early in the season the ends, Sapp particularly and sometimes Bowers, would get immediate pressure, but they would overrun the QB and miss him, or worse, a reverse would be run on them while so out of position of containment. However, I don't remember a time since the Fridge that the defensive tackles have had so many pressures and sacks. I believe that one or two of our tackles tied for team lead in sacks. That supports our disappointment, but it also speaks well of the progress made this year. With better linebacker play and DE pressure that results in some sacks, we should have a few years of good defensive play. That upfront improvement will also help our secondary.

I think if Brown had the experience he would overtake Sapp as the starter on that side. Bowers was 1/2 step away on every play. He tracked down a rb in the Bama game from behind. As his technique improves and stregnth improve he will be awesomeR. I think that Bowers needs to control his appetite and eat a bit healthier. He will learn these tricks as he gets older. If not put him a DT.

Sapp has a ton of speed and with his injuries pretty much all season long we were lacking in the speed and experience. Our backup looked good against Neb. Those guys were getting held the entire fourth quarter. 93 especially.

Leon Mackey was much needed. We are losing Scott and Jackson, and IMO since he was preped at the academy he might have an edge on some of the other guys. As long as we dont take any injuries the DL will be much better next year. OL and DL work as a unit and an injury just throws off the balance.
