I know hes only a junior, but I hear he is projected to be the top RB next year if not the top recruit overall??? I saw the pics of him at the basketball game and he was decked out in Clemson gear!!! With Spiller leaving for sure next year Lattimore will have big shoes to fill, but are we his leader?

Lattimore is a very good back but he also gets alot of pub because of where he plays (Byrnes). Truth is, he's not even the best back in South Carolina. That would be the youngster in Lake City, Shon Carson. Having seen all 21 games Shon has played so far and a few games Lattimore has played, it's not really close. Lattimore has so much more help around him than Carson does that it's ridiculas. You put Shon Carson on that Byrnes team, he would have 3000 yards and it wouldn't even be hard for him to get it. Of course, Carson will only be a Junior next season and he's looking at Florida and Georgia right now even though Clemson has already offered him for Football and Baseball.

Shon Carson over Lattimore??? Are you serious??? I can't even find anything on Shon Carson. If he was such a phenom you would've heard of his name like you did with Everett Golston. We know Lattimore is the real deal. We know absolutely nothing about Shon Carson. I will keep my eyes and ears pealed just in case!

His team was banned from the playoffs this year otherwise you would have heard more. You can find info on him as well as highlights at www.scprepnation.com or www.scvarsity.com or www.athletevault.com or you can just type his name in your search engine and find loads of stuff on the net. So, if you haven't heard anything on him it's because you haven't looked. He ran for 1300+ yards and 15 TDs in 11 games as a freshman in 2007. Ran for 1636 yards and 19TDs in 10 games in 2008. All this despite only averaging 18 carries a game this year and less than that last year behind an offensive line that looks like Clemson's. The kid Golson you mentioned had one loss this season. It was to Shon Carson and his Lake City Panthers. In that game, Golson was only 15-25 for 170 with no TDs and two interceptions. Carson ran for 162 yards and scored a TD and 2-Point conversion in that game. He and one of his teammates were invited to the Under Armour combine during the weekend of the All American game. He couldn't play in the game obviously because he was only a Sophmore butin the workouts before the game he posted the fastest 40 time of ANY running back there (4.35). Like I said, Lattimore gets tons of pub because of who he plays for and don't get me wrong he is very good. Just not in Carson's class.
Edit: He was also First Team AAA All-State this year. Like I said, he's only a Sophmore.

Thanks! I was able to view some info here and see his vitals. He MAY(?) be a little small. I know he is only a SO in HS. Yet, from what I've learned in nearly 40 years of following recruiting is that if he is listed as 5'9", he is most probably really 5'6" to 5'7"! That being said, if he does actually grow into a 5'9" to 5'10" back, or even a 5'11" to 6'0" back, if he truly has that kind of speed he will be very very good! Is he a shifty kind of runner? Does he run track? Once again I thank you! I will be watching him over the next couple of years.

His father is a friend of mine so I know Shon also. He's a solid 5'9". Maybe even 5'10" with cleats on. He's also very strong. Solid as a rock. Rarely, and I do mean rarely brought down by one man. Really good kid as well.

We have made up a TON of ground with Lattimore. USC was the clear leader for his services early, but I think we've pulled to nearly even. Remember that his sister goes to USC and that's huge for him. He's obviously had a good time time on the unofficial visits and it certainly didn't hurt to have him in the stands for the Clemson/USC game this year.
All that being said, this kid is pretty savy and is enjoying the recruiting process. He'll be a NSD big press conference kind of guy. I have nothing to back this up but a gut feeling, but I think that he ends up going out of state.
