The following quote from that article raises an alarm to me .....
"Everything that Coach [Randy] Shannon is doing here is about team," a high-ranking source in the athletic department told CaneSport.com, a Rivals.com Web site. "There is always going to be concern about a player or a prospective player who isolates himself as an individual.
"There is a strong chance that a new letter-of-intent will not be offered if he doesn't sign by Wednesday night."

He's setting himself up to be like that last kid nobody wants when you pick a Saturday afternoon backyard team.
Let him go..........................Ain't worth it.

First of all, I hear Miami talking, but I haven't seen them do anything yet. If they don't reissue that letter I'd be stunned.
Secondly, while I can't say that I'm all that impressed with what Brown has been saying and doing, I'm willing to give the kid the benifit of the doubt. He has NFL level talent and wants to go to a school that is going to help him with that. He's also 17 years old and a football player, not a genius. I personally don't think it's a mistake on his part to wait past NSD and see how classes have shaken out (although this 'Mentor' thing has me worried).
I'm not too worried about the 'teamwork' aspect of things. Once that letter of intent has been signed, this guy will have to toe the line if he knows what's good for him. I doubt that he'll want to play at below division one. That means if he causes too much trouble, he'll get the boot and have to sit out a year (minimum). If he shows his ass, the school could refuse to release him and he'll have to sit out two years. That's a powerful reason to be a 'team player', even if you don't REALLY mean it. While he's no doubt enjoying the spotlight, I think he'll be fine once his decision is made.

And notice Miami isn't... Told you so. I'm not surprised that Pete C at USC called it a class. Despite what Brown's 'mentor' is saying, you can't believe that your are really under consideration if you don't score an official. However, if Brown called up PC and told him he wanted to come to USC, I'd bet he'd open the class up. Perceived problems aside, you don't just pass on the #1 recruit in the nation. I still think Brown ends up at Miami.

If this kid has a father at home, then he is not much of one. If he does not have a father at home then it explains the so-called mentor.

I hate it when recruits pull this crap .If it were anyother year, I'd say don't take him. period. With so few signees this year, I'd give it some consideration, but then again, we are by no means lacking good RBs, so we don't really need him.

LexingtonTiger722,
No, we lack people that know how to block for our RBs! I hope they correct that problem or 2009 will be the same as 2008.

This kid is a waste of time. Clemson does not need more RBs. They need to learn how to block. They need a coaching staff that works them so hard in practice that a game is a welcome relief from the pain and intensity of practices.
We also need a coach that will try to score all sixty minutes. No more mister nice guy. I'm not trying to get our coaches to heaven. I want our team to win, so long as we follow the rules. Winning big sends a message to other teams, especially if you can back it up from week-to-week.

Kiffin must have "cheated" to get him, or, at least, that is what he would have said if he signed somewhere else!

I don't like the drama around his recruitment, but I don't really want the kid to do poorly, so long as they aren't playing The Tigers!

Terrell Pryor set this silly stuff up last year. Now the top recruits will probably keep doing this forn the attention.
