Corinco Hawkins announced today that he will play football at Clemson in 2009 !
Great pickup!
We really need another good linebacker in next year's class and the Tigers will be in really good shape !

good article from the AJC
I like what his coach said about how Clemson and TB recruited him compared to the other top schools in the South.

Sounds like a great player. I keep hearing "hard hitter". Love seeing that from our linebacker commits! Depth is finally starting to pile up there!

Another great recruit. We just seem to be getting better and better players. Gotta love that.

I hate to bring up a difficult question amongst all the happiness, but what kind of grades does Hawkins have?

I also like the hard hitter comments. There is something so cool about a LB filling the gap on an inside running play and knocking the RB backward!

Grades are not an issue for Mr. Hawkins and he should project to be a full qualifier.
Corico is a very good LB and will be a welcome addition to the recruiting class. As I discussed with TigerHope in a thread below, I think you'll see his stock climb a little before it's all said and done. In a ridiculously deep year at LB in Georgia, he's one of the better ones. Florida offered him during his Junior year as his first offer, and he's got a slew of big time offers. He doesn't have ideal height, but the kid is a definite gamer and always seems to make plays. Everybody I've talked to that's actually seen him in person says that he's far more impressive than his film or recruiting ranking status would lead you to believe. I won't say Clemson got a steal here, because other programs were aware of him, but we landed a very good prospect.

I thought that I saw he had a 3.1 GPA and around a 1050 SAT...
Could be way off...but I think I remember that.

The SAT has a 2400 point scale, so I hope he had much higher than a 1050. They have used the 2400 point scale since March 2005. What that means is that a good (not great) score would be about 1600 on the new 2400 point score.

Probably my mistake.

They did say that he is on schedule to graduate early.

CUDTiger25,
Now that is nice to know. I really think early enrollment is the only way high school student-athletes can slide by the February national signing date. It really takes the pressure off of them between January and early February (just my observation). Of course, it also gives them a chance to practice and attend classes, but the other thing is true also IMO.
