There haven't been any updates on recruiting here lately, so I was hoping to at least hear some positive rumors (even if they're the type you hear in a sports bar by someone who knows someone who knows .....etc.)

I'm very concerned because of our pitiful showings on the field to date. Not many really good players want to play for a team that is branded as soft. Word is, if you hit Clemson in the mouth, they will fold. Somebody reassure me.

Devonte Holloman worries me. He says some good things, but he's really enjoying some visits.

Stephon Gilmore - what happened? Other than Alabama, Maryland, etc.? He now says after this weekend he'll announce either South Carolina or Alabama?

Eric Fields - we're still on his list, but he's looking. Georgia is on his mind, it seems.

Jarvis Jones - still on his list also, but Georgia, even though they are full at LB, is holding a scholarship for him. Pretty tempting with all the pressure he is getting from homestaters.

Loston - who the heck knows? He committed to A&M last year, then decommitted after Francione was fired. Committed to us. Now what? His list is LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, A&M and someone else, but he still likes us?

Sam Montgomery - Alabama and particularly Georgia cranking up the heat on Sam. He lists South Carolina as a visit but not us. I know he doesn't feel he needs to visit us, but still...

Boyd - Once a lock, then us and Florida, now Oklahoma is in there. How do you blame him? Sam Bradford has two more years to throw the ball around with 80% accuracy.

I don't care for the current coaching regime and it probably is best to make a change, but I really hate to lose Dabo and Napier when the new guys come in. I hate even more losing the momentum we have (had?) in recruiting.

How about some updates/ thoughts? Zan, where are you? Hopeful, you know your stuff, too. Anybody?

what about Goodman the #3 DE out of the lower part of SC who has committed to Clemson

is he still firm.

when these players see how our def. plays (soft and passive) and then see's a def. like USCs who is aggrerssive and fast and hardnose

I have to worry that a big time recruit might enjoy playing there over Clemson.

But they should know also, no one has ever changed the lossing at USC and no one will any time soon. Come to Clemson and play at a place with traditions and who wins more games than USC.

At this point if my Son was a HS 4 or 5 star athlete there is no way in hell they would be signing with Clemson until Tommy Bowden steped up to the plate and takes control of the team

The only way we keep all of these guys is to win out.
We are getting the reputation of being a soft team and the only way that changes is if both DEf. and Off. coordinators are fired. But Bowden won't do that. He seems to favor both Spence and Koenning soft polite style of play.

Just to let you know, there should be a recruiting article loaded to the front page in the next few days that will address all the things you guys mentioned in these posts. If you have any more questions/follow-ups, I will be happy to address them.
